The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (Reef Authority) is tasked with the protection and sustainable management of the Great Barrier Reef, one of the world’s most diverse and ecologically significant ecosystems. Every five years, GBRMPA publishes the Great Barrier Reef Outlook Report, which provides an in-depth status update on the Reef's health. In 2024, for the first time, the report was made available through a dedicated website as well as a PDF, marking a major shift in how this critical information is delivered to the public.

The challenge

The Outlook Report site was initially developed by Annex on the GovCMS platform. Following the initial build, the Reef Authority engaged Morpht to conduct a thorough site audit and implement any necessary fixes or enhancements to make the site ready for going live.

The solution

Morpht conducted a thorough site audit, assessing key criteria and identifying areas for improvement. Based on the audit findings and recommendations, Morpht implemented necessary fixes and enhancements, supporting the Reef Authority through the successful launch of the Great Barrier Reef Outlook Report site.

The site audit included evaluating key areas such as effectiveness, user experience, content, visual design, technical setup, and performance. The audit uncovered several opportunities for improvements, particularly regarding accessibility and technical performance.
