It’s all done and dusted for most of us who met in Wellington for DrupalSouth. It was a picture of organisation and execution, and all involved deserve immense thanks for their hard work. The event checked all the key boxes in our successful Drupal camp punch list: smiling faces, great sessions, an endless supply of great coffee, and very decent wifi!
We will discuss the many sessions in a forthcoming post, but we did want to take a moment to share our glee and appreciation at winning the first-ever Drupalsouth Splash Awards in the Non-profit category.
This year we took home the Splash Award in the Non-profit category for our work with the Redfern Legal Center. The dev and delivery teams at Morpht put their heart and soul into the work we do for all of our customers. But it was a special opportunity to help Redfern, which provides free legal services for those who face discrimination, domestic abuse, and housing emergencies. We hope that the new site helps RLC with its stellar mission and connects its services to those in need.
We didn't do this alone: we were approached by Folk, our common partners-in-design, to assist in the rebuilding of the RLC website. Folk worked on redesigning the branding and front-end components while Morpht undertook the work on the content mapping, migration and rebuild of the site from Drupal 7 into Drupal 9.
About The Splash Awards
The Splash Awards are about recognising and promoting the amazing things that can be done in Drupal. Since 2018, the Splash Awards have been held at camps and cons all over the world, with DrupalSouth Wellington 2023 being the inaugural Splash Awards event for the ANZ region. They were organised by the DrupalSouth Steering Committee and were judged by an independent panel of experts.
These awards are important, not just to pat ourselves on the back for our skills. They help the Drupal community as a whole with much-needed publicity and positive energy in a competitive landscape. We all win, by promoting the potential of Drupal and Open Source. And seriously, there were some impressive examples of artistry on parade.
In the Government category, New South Wales Government took the award, as well as Best in Show. For Design and UX, the amazing team at Salsa won for the Civic Theme website. And our friends at PreviousNext won in Education for the National Mental Health Commission website.
Runner-Ups and Nominees
Runner-ups included Sparks Interactive for Land Information New Zealand, PreviousNext for Bond University, and Salsa Digital for Digital Aotearoa Collective.
Nominees were Hide and Seek for Fair Work Commission, Morpht (yay!) for Australian Air Force Cadets, EY for AU Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment, Previous Next for National Mental Health Commission, Salsa for Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts, Tomato Elephant Studio for United Israel Appeal, and Deloitte Digital for Independent Mental Health Advocacy.
